First, THANK YOU to EVERYONE who has helped with the drives the past few weeks.  We have had an incredible response to each and every drive!

This week we have a great chance to supply food for food boxes for the Burmese Refugees in the Denver area.  Since they don’t eat our typical canned foods, we had a list put together of what types of foods and household items they can use.

Feel free to purchase as much of any of these items as you wish.

Just a quick reminder that this Sunday we are collecting packs of brand new white tube socks for Sox Place, a ministry for street teens in Denver.  These socks will be delivered by our Downtown Team on March 1st.

Please help us get the reminder out to those in the church!  Let’s make this drive as successful as our other two drives have been!

That’s a phrase I never thought I’d say working for a church, but it’s true.  As Ryan mentioned on stage yesterday, we need used men’s pants for the drive we are doing this Sunday.

These pants will be used as part of our homeless outreach so that these men have decent pants to go on interviews.

So check out your closet, any jeans or pants you have that you no longer wear and are still in wearable condition, please bring them with you to church on Sunday.

Call your family, friends, and neighbors and tell them we want their pants also.

Let’s make this drive a huge success!

Each Sunday during the month of February we will be holding a different drive to collect goods to directly impact our community.  We would LOVE for these drives to be a HUGE success.  In order to do that, we need EVERYONE to help us get the word out to all those you know at church.

In addition to bringing your own items to donate, please consider going to your local Walmart / Target / King Soopers / Safeway, etc. and ask for donations.

Sunday, February 3rd: DIAPERS for Champa House

Sunday, February 10th: USED MEN’s PANTS for the homeless in Denver

Sunday, February 17th: SOCKS for homeless teens in Denver

Sunday, February 24th: CANNED FOOD for a local food bank

Thanks so much!  We look forward to seeing how God uses our church to bless our community!

With Christmas quickly approaching, I wanted to get the word out about the office hours during the Christmas / New Year holidays.

The Church office will be closed during the weekd of December 24th through the first part of the week of December 31st. The office will reopen on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008.

While the office is closed, please feel free to email or leave messages for the staff.  We will do our best to get back with you if the matter needs attention during the week the office is closed.  Otherwise, we will get back in touch with you when we return to the office on Wednesday, January 2nd.

And don’t forget - we will be having our regular Sunday morning services at 9:00am and 10:30am on Sunday the 23rd and Sunday the 30th.

We’ll see you all there!

There are two important events coming up this next week and we need your help getting the word out to the church.  Please pass along the information in this blog to those you serve alongside as well as those within your small group.

First, don’t forget that Daylight Savings ends this weekend.  So be sure to set your clocks back one hour before you head off to bed on Saturday night.

Secondly, we will be celebrating our first Worship Community in our new ministry space, The Hub, next Wednesday at 7pm.  This will be an extended time of worship through music and communion.  This will also be a time for the elders and pastors to update the church on the senior pastor search, our new space, finances, and anything else they feel needs to be communicated.  So please adjust your schedules as you don’t want to miss this night of community or the information that will be communicated.   Plus, with our new space we can now offer childcare for this event!

We’ll see you this weekend…

Can you guess what theme in the Bible was discussed in over two thousand passages of Scripture and in about two-thirds of Jesus’ parables?  Money and finances!  He talked often about these matters because He understood what was at stake.  He knew that, left to our own devices, this area would quickly become a source of pain and frustration – and sometimes bondage.  Worse, He saw how easily our hearts would be led astray from true devotion to God into areas of worry and even obsession over possessions.  He wanted to protect us from these pitfalls and to show us the freedom that comes from following Him fully in every area of our lives, including our finances.

Colorado Ridge Church and the Good Sense Ministry want to help facilitate that by providing a class this summer on biblical financial principles.  Most likely this class will be something far different than anything you associate with finances.  It can be a tool for those whose financial lives are very healthy, those who are one paycheck away from disaster, and everyone in between.  We encourage you to come and learn:

¨      What God has to say about finances

¨      The truth behind cultural myths about money

¨      Earning, giving and saving

¨      Creating a spending plan

¨      Tackling debt

¨      Money saving tips

¨      Financial record keeping

Apart from the learning, this class is a great opportunity to enter into community with others at Colorado Ridge.  The class will last 6 weeks, and will meet during the first service (9am – 10:15am) in the Wild Side room (across from Kids Point).  The class will consist of some DVD instruction, small group time, facilitated discussion, and Q/A.  We encourage you to sign up now to join us; indicate your desire to attend on the service reply cards on Sunday or you can send us an email at www.coloradoridge.com on the Ministry Connect page (click on “I need assistance”).  We look forward to having you, and sharing in God’s desires for our financial lives!

Newcomer’s Dinner:

At Colorado Ridge Church, we strive to take time on a regular basis to get to know those who are new to our church community.  Over the years, our Newcomers Dinners have been times when our pastors and staff have been able to connect with families and individuals who are checking out our church.  Our pastors share the amazing story of how our church started, what our mission and purpose are, as well as take the time to hear from each person and answer any questions someone may have about church, God, or Colorado Ridge.  So whether you’ve been here 6 weeks or 6 months, this is a great place to start getting to know Colorado Ridge.

Our Next Newcomer’s Dinner is this Sunday, May 20th from 4:00-6:30pm at the church office.  Please visit our website at www.coloradoridge.com to sign up.

All Church Information Meeting: May 31st

Over the past several months our church has gathered on a regular basis to dialogue what is happening with the church, the building, the pastor search, etc.  We will once again have a chance to gather on Thursday, May 31st.  We encourage all those who consider Colorado Ridge their church home to be at this meeting.  We value hearing from you and answering your questions…so bring them with you.

The meeting will be Thursday, May 31st, at 7pm in the Legacy High School Auditorium.

June-a-Palooza:

Two very cool things will be happening at our church on Sunday, June 10th.  BE SURE TO NOTE THAT WE WILL HAVE ONLY ONE SERVICE AT 10AM ON JUNE 10TH.

First, all of our students will step up into their next grade level.  They will have just finished school and we are excited to help them celebrate another year of school completed and welcome them into their new class.  For some students this will mean a room change as well.  Our pastors and leaders are so excited to helpm these students transition into their next grade…that’s what Step-Up Sunday is all about!

After the service teh second cool thing happens.  We invite all of our church family and guests to join us on the lawn at the high school for a BBQ.  There will be bounce houses for the kids, lots of food, and fun music.  What a great way to kick off the summer!

Sign up on our website at www.coloradoridge.com to let us know your family will join us for the BBQ.  Adults will be $3 and kids ages 2-10 will be $2.  You will also see a couple of areas you can help out with for the BBQ.
